Simple DIY America Doll dress

I saw this great DIY doll dress on Pinterest ages ago.  I was still struggling with sewing things at the time, so I had my aunt make this for my youngest daughter's American Doll.

Ours is not exactly like it but Callie loves it for her Callie doll.

Here is how ours turned out.  I may or may not be able to make one, I still struggle, but not as bad.  My aunt swears it is very simple.  

We also didn't use a sweater, but more of a sweatshirt type material. and sorry I don't have a back view of ours.
