Our Vacation to Destin, FL

Last week, we spent in Destin, FL.  Visiting my Father-in-law and (step) mother-in-law.   I'm late posting for several reasons.  1)  I'm always behind on things lately 2)  I had a super busy weekend when we got home 3) school started this weekend 4) no computer while on vacay means lots of catching up when I got home (remember I have 2 blogs going!!)

I can say that the house we stayed in was superb,  mainly because we stayed at my sister-in-law's rental house.  Its a great price, very clean.  We had practically everything we needed, we did have to go out and buy food.

We went to the beach, but only a couple of days.  That sun was hot, we couldn't handle it every day.  We would get to the beach about 9:30am and be gone by 1pm (if that late)

Sunday we rented a pontoon boat.  from SunShine Watersports, we had the boat for 6 hours.  We took it all along the Destin coastline.  I don't recommend going at the end of August, because of the heat.  But it was great, because the schools are already in session there and less crowds everywhere.

We tried a few restaurants, of course, while we were here.  For lunch we tried McAlister's Deli.  The kids and I were not impressed, however Mike did like the food.  And that is a good thing, he is the picky one.  I also thought it was expensive.  We had dinner one night at Beef O'Brady's.  That was pretty good. 

We looked all over for All-you-Can-eat Crab Legs,  that was a hard search!!!  I finally found a place about 30 minutes away called Elmo's Grill.  OMG that was worth the drive.  It was awesome, service was excellent but it was a little pricey.

This was my "crab Feast"  So yummy!! I am not big on crabcakes, but this one was delicious. 

 

Shrimp Spectacular  

Callie said she did not like the "blackened" shrimp, and need more shrimp on the plate.

One evening we went out driving around.  We saw some beautiful sights,  Sand dunes and got this great shot of an egret.  We even caught a blue crab in our little net.

We of course had to go play mini-golf.  We chose "Track".  great course, but it was expensive for the four of us.  And for some reason, we chose to go play in the middle of the day!!!
